Holiday Train Garden at the Fire Museum of Maryland

  • Located at 1301 York Rd. Lutherville, MD 21093
  • When: November 5 & December 2, 9, 16, & 27-30, 2017; 10:00am-4:00pm

This year, expose your children to a centuries-old tradition at the Fire Museum of Maryland (located in nearby Lutherville). Here, the whole family can take in the sights of their annual Holiday Train Garden, complete with a working fire, multiple operating trains, and even scale models of familiar local businesses. A treat for all ages, a viewing of the Holiday Train Garden is certainly a unique way to spend winter break.

Pandora Ice Rink at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor

A Christmas Carol by the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company

An original take on an immortal classic, the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company’s production of A Christmas Carol reaches its final performances on Friday December 22 at 2:00pm & 8:00pm and Saturday, December 23 at 2:00pm & 8:00pm. Celebrate Christmas (and the kickoff to winter break) with a tale filled with heart, holiday spirit, and an unmistakable Baltimore charm that everyone will love.

Winterfest Wonderland (Part of the Magical Holiday Express) at the B&O Railroad Museum

Once that final school bell rings, take the kids to the B&O Railroad Museum for some festive fun. As part of their Magical Holiday Express series, Winterfest Wonderland is going on from December 18-31. Kids can enjoy train rides, crafts, and activities that are sure to keep their little hands and minds busy and get everyone (kids and parents alike) into the holiday spirit.

12 Days of Science at the Maryland Science Center

Cirque de la Symphonie Holiday Spectacular

A jaw-dropping twist on the traditional orchestra concert, the Cirque de la Symphonie Holiday Spectacular is a “treat for the eyes and ears.” Join the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for a night of music complete with acrobats, contortionists, jugglers, and many other circus favorites. Winter Break Week at the Port Discovery Children’s Museum

A break from school doesn’t have to mean a break from learning! Drop-In Winter Break Activities at the Walters Art Museum

Just in time for winter break, the Walters Art Museum has added three new drop-in activities that kids can participate in from December 27-29. Collages inspired by the Impressionists, prayer flags for the new year, and tapestries all encourage creativity, expression, and an appreciation for the beautiful and varied forms that make up both modern and classic art.
